Phytosauria
A strangely familiar looking family of Crurotarsian Archosaurs, Phytosaurs were one of several families that evolved the recognisable crocodilian shape, alongside protosuchids, choristoderes and of course crocodylia. In Different World, only Phytosaurs survived, diversifying in a similar fashion to HE crocodilians.
There are a few differences between Phytosaurs and Crocodilans, the major one being the positioning of the nostrils. In Crocodilians, they are placed at the end of the snout; in Phytosaurs, they are much closer to the eyes. Phytosaurs also have a fleshy palate that allows them to eat underwater, in place of the Crocodilian's bony plate.
